Cosmetic Bonding

If you feel embarrassed to smile or cover your mouth when laughing, due to having discoloured, chipped, worn, gappy or misshapen teeth, cosmetic bonding can return your confidence with a brighter, fuller smile.

At Broseley Dental, our experienced dentists perform this minimally invasive treatment in just one appointment, giving you an easy option for a confident smile.

How Does Cosmetic Bonding Work?

The process is relatively simple. Cosmetic bonding uses a tooth-coloured composite material that bonds to your teeth to make them whiter and mask any chips or gaps.  Most patients don’t need a local anaesthetic for this process (so no needles).

Your consultation is where the shape and colour of your proposed composite bonding are agreed upon by you with your dentist. You will then return for your appointment where the process of applying the composite to the tooth will be carried out.

The tooth will be prepared with adhesive placed to allow the composite to stick to the tooth. To set the composite and bond it to your teeth, your dentist uses a special light that hardens it. To complete the process, your dentist shapes and polishes your tooth, creating a beautiful, natural smile.

How Should I Care For My Cosmetic Bonding?

You won’t need to take any extra steps to keep your cosmetic bonding clean. Floss and brush your teeth twice a day and see your dentist and hygienist twice a year for maintenance of your smile and oral health.

To protect your cosmetic bonding from premature chipping or staining, avoid biting down on hard foods like sweets. If you drink staining liquids like tea or coffee, brush your teeth again directly after. Also, avoid using your teeth to open packages or loosen knots.
